Children represent our hope for the future. Our mistakes and sins are our marks and constant reminders of past transgressions, but children represent hope. Children are blank slates: untouched and unmarked, they are pure. That is the hope that is represented in the Baptism ceremony: A child welcomed into a church, a community and a family. Guidance, support and love are there so that that child may make more in their life than we ever could in ours.
