Scranton

Technology.  It transforms our lives and makes our labors that much easier.  As technology advances, however, it leaves old forms behind.  What happens to areas formerly blessed on old technologies?  Scranton is an example of this.  When the Industrial Revolution boomed, coal was king.  The anthracite region of Pennsylvania were exceptionally blessed.  The mines were booming and that fueled the railroads snaking through the country.  As coal was eclipsed by oil, however, the mines were shuttered and the rails were displaced by the automobile.  These images pay homage to the golden era of coal in Pennsylvania.
